Roshni Thapa on Pregnancy after Transplant

Name: Roshni Thapa, 26

Date of Transplantation:

Donor: Father

Place of Transplantation: #

Roshhi was diagnosed during a regular check-up 1 month after her marriage.  At the time she didn’t think the disease was serious but found out after meeting doctors.  Her in-laws were shocked but her husband still supported her even though they had not been married for long.  His father also had a kidney failure which he wasn’t able to recover and died. In the beginning, her haemodialysis treatment was difficult to support.  2 years after the start of her dialysis treatment she had a transplant in ’65.  Since then she has been participating in transplant games and currently has a 6 month old baby girl, named Aaroshi.  Fortunately there were no complications during her pregnancy.  Roshii says that people get restless and scared in the beginning but become more hopeful as they learn from doctors.  While she thinks that Aarogya is an excellent support group and great at raising awareness, she also belives Aarogya should pressure the government into supporting free medicine and helping transplant patients.
